Welcome To The Wandering Minstrel

 The Wandering Minstrel

Gypsy On The Marsh

Hi. Welcome and thanks for your interest. My name is Jamie and have gone under other names like The Sweet Hippie Chick, The Blasphemous Bitch, and now The Wandering Minstrel or Gypsy On The Marsh. The names aren't important, except for Jamie cuz that's my real name, while the others are intended to give an impression of my intended mission.

So that's my name...

Here's a little bit about me...

In June of 2019 I returned to Milwaukee after around 20 years in LA. The first thing I did was start getting back into the Milwaukee Music Scene – I do mean that literally, after 3 ½ days on the road I arrived at my new temporary residence with an old acquaintance on June 7, 2019 at around 3:00 PM. At 7:00 we were at a Violent Fems concert at the Riverside Theater in downtown Milwaukee. After that it was one or two concerts a week at bars or parks. Contrast this with LA, and it's over-bloated reputation for being an abundance of entertainment, where I'd been to 2 music get together's (over the 20 year period) - one that I don't even recall the performer, and was quite boring, and the other being Julian Lennon (son of John Lennon) at the Hardrock Cafe. Julian was okay. Now trippin' the Milwaukee scene there was a band that really got my attention, they were The Unheard Of, and I started following them. Somehow by the end of the year, 2019, I'd become friends with Jim – the one that started The Unheard Of in 1984 and kept it going for 40 years. After a while I became a sort of official helper or “Seamstress For The Band” as the song goes. Among other things I a wrote articles and a blog exclusively for the Unheard Of.

Now I've become a free agent...

We'll see how it goes.

My mission as The Wandering Minstrel is to explore the Dodge County area of Wisconsin checking out different bands – there's so much going on around here. Right now it's early December 2024 and we're getting hit by an early winter with temps that have been in the teens and twenties with lows around 10. There's still a lot of indoor venues that I'll be exploring and sharing, then when summer comes again, it will be more of the street fairs and farmers markets all with great live bands playing. You know, Wisconsin really puts southern cali to shame when it comes to entertainment and music. Who'd-a-thought?

Please share your bands, businesses, and events on my Facebook page The Wandering Minstrel.

Looking forward to good times and hearing from y'all

Peace Love and Rock & Roll
